Client and Tasks:
Future Things Online Store
This online store sells solar batteries and chargers for mobile phones.
- Transfer the old site from OpenCart CMS to Joomla 3 CMS;
- Install CMS on hosting;
- Develop website structure;
- Configure CMS and its components;
- Install website design template;
- Manage website content.
The store site was powered by OpenCart CMS. The company owner chose this CMS as “a specialized shop CMS”. Unfortunately, it didn’t quite live to its expectations, and the site administration had to constantly create various engine workarounds instead of making sales. As a result, we chose to transfer the site to Joomla 3 CMS with Virtuemart plugin.
As templates for different CMS are not interchangeable, we have also decided to redesign the site as well.
There were no automatic OpenCart to Joomla 3 migration tools at the moment, so we used CSVI component for price list export/import. In fact, “redesigning the site” now meant “rewriting the site from scratch”.
We used a template design tailored to the tasks and requests of the client. We retained the signature colors and company logo while changing everything else in accordance with modern web design, usability and e-commerce trends.
We carried out a full amount of works in accordance with the tasks.
We made a list of possible free domains and discussed the optimal option with the client. After he made his decision, we registered the domain and hosting account, and linked the latter with the former.
We installed Joomla CMS and offered five various design options. After the client has chosen an option that would suit him the best, we installed the design template. Then we configured all CMS plugins and modules, and carried over all content to the new site.
As a result, the client has received a completely overhauled site (new CMS, design and structure) made in adherence to all search engine rules. It is ready for new customers and orders.
